B righton has activated the £40 million release clause in Georginio Rutter's contract with Leeds United. The 22-year-old forward, who joined Leeds in January of last year on a five-and-a-half-year deal from Hoffenheim, was signed for a club-record fee that could rise to £35 million.
Rutter had an impressive season, scoring eight goals and providing 16 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions. He continued his form into the current season, assisting in Leeds' 3-3 draw with Portsmouth on the opening weekend of the Championship season and coming off the bench during their 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday.
