Mohbad’s Widow Drops Bomb: “My Father-in-Law’s Backing Naira Marley, Not Justice”

W unmi Aloba, widow of the late Afrobeat sensation Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), has publicly accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of undermining efforts to seek justice for her husband’s death. Speaking on With Chude, Wunmi alleged that Joseph has aligned himself with Naira Marley—the artist and label boss she claims tormented Mohbad—and is actively sabotaging the fight for accountability.

“He’s on their side, speaking for them, saving them,” Wunmi stated, deepening the ongoing family rift that has captivated public attention.

Unresolved Questions, Lingering Trauma

Mohbad, aged 27, tragically passed away in September 2023, with speculation swirling about the circumstances surrounding his death. Wunmi insists that her husband was relentlessly bullied and oppressed, pointing to viral clips that allegedly show instances of harassment.

She also blames Joseph for rushing the burial, which she believes contributed to the inconclusive autopsy results. “Liam will grow up and ask questions. How do I explain that his grandfather botched the fight for justice?” she lamented, referring to her son with Mohbad.

Despite police assurances that those responsible—including Naira Marley and Sam Larry—would be held accountable, Wunmi remains unconvinced. “Nothing has been done,” she claimed, adding that the trauma of witnessing Mohbad’s alleged abuse continues to haunt her.

Public Backlash and Divided Opinions

The controversy has ignited social media, with #JusticeForMohbad still trending. Posts like @PulseNigeria247’s headline—“Mohbad’s widow alleges father-in-law sides with Naira Marley”—have sparked mixed reactions. While some support Wunmi’s stance, others question her claims.

Unfazed by the skepticism, she doubled down: “You don’t need a sword to kill someone—they made his life unbearable. Naira Marley knows he maltreated my husband. I will speak up, I won’t die in silence.”

A Mother’s Fear, A Legacy in Question

As legal proceedings drag on, Wunmi’s priority remains her son, Liam. “I pray he isn’t traumatized,” she said, her voice breaking. The circumstances of Mohbad’s death—initially linked to a mysterious injection—continue to fuel speculation, protests, and demands for transparency.

Beyond mourning, Wunmi is fighting—not just for justice, but for her husband’s legacy and her son’s future. Meanwhile, Joseph Aloba and Naira Marley’s camp remain silent—a silence growing louder with each passing day.
