Mohamed Salah Equals Wayne Rooney’s Premier League Feat, Closes in on Sergio Aguero

Mohamed Salah has equalled Wayne Rooney’s Premier League record for the most goals scored at a single home venue, after netting his 101st goal at Anfield in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Salah's goal came from the penalty spot after Luis Diaz opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Salah's conversion in the 37th minute doubled Liverpool's advantage. His 101 Premier League goals at Anfield now match the record set by Rooney at Old Trafford during his Manchester United career.

The Egyptian international is now just five goals behind Sergio Aguero, who scored 106 goals at Etihad Stadium during his illustrious career with Manchester CityThierry Henry holds the all-time record for most goals at a single Premier League venue, having scored 114 goals at Highbury.

Despite Matheus Cunha pulling one back for Wolves, Liverpool secured all three points, which helped extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points above second-placed Arsenal.

Salah, who has scored in his last six consecutive league matches, now has 23 goals for the 2024-25 Premier League season, keeping him in the running for the Golden Boot.

Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 for a reported £36.5 million, Salah has become a club legend, contributing to Liverpool's Champions League and Premier League victories while also becoming the club’s all-time top scorer in both competitions.

With his contract at Anfield set to expire at the end of the season, multiple top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, are rumored to be interested in signing the 32-year-old.

Liverpool's victory also came as a response to their thrilling 2-2 draw with Everton last time out, as they prepare to face Aston Villa and Manchester City in their upcoming fixtures.
