Police Disown, Arrest Man Over Threats of Reprisal After Edo Killings

By Agboola Aluko | GLiDE NEWS | April 5, 2025

T he Kaduna State Police Command has disowned and arrested a man, Hadaina Hussaini—popularly known as Dan-Taki—who was caught on social media posing as a police officer and threatening reprisal attacks against southerners in Nigeria.

Dan-Taki’s inflammatory remarks followed the killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. In a Facebook comment, he swore “by Almighty God” that northerners would retaliate against southerners residing in the North, vowing that “after one week, you shall see the result.”

The now-viral statement sparked outrage online and led to swift clarification from the police.

In a press release issued on Friday night, the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, stated unequivocally that Hussaini is not a serving police officer, nor is he associated with the Kaduna State Police Command.

“To set the record straight, Hadaina Hussaini is neither a member of the Nigeria Police Force nor a personnel of Kaduna State Police Command,” the statement read.

According to the police, Hussaini was previously a member of the Police Special Constabulary—a voluntary, non-armed policing body—but was dismissed two years ago over questionable character and conduct.

Photos of Hussaini in uniform circulating online were reportedly taken before his dismissal. The police emphasized that his attire was improperly worn and not reflective of an actual serving officer.

“Members of the general public are advised to observe the identity card attached to his uniform, which bears ‘PSC/KD’, denoting Police Special Constabulary, Kaduna.”

Hussaini has since been arrested and will be charged to court once preliminary investigations are completed, according to police authorities.

The statement reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains a disciplined and law-abiding institution and will not condone any form of incitement, hate speech, or threat to national peace.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabi’u Muhammad, urged citizens to remain calm and continue reporting suspicious activity, reaffirming the Force’s commitment to upholding law and order.
