Tinubu Orders Manhunt for Plateau Gunmen, Condemns Killings as ‘Mindless and Unacceptable’

P resident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the brutal attacks that left many dead in multiple communities across Plateau State and has directed security agencies to immediately hunt down and apprehend the perpetrators.

In a statement issued on Saturday, President Tinubu described the attacks by unidentified gunmen on Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, as well as Manguna and Dafo villages, as "mindless" and "unacceptable."

The assailants reportedly stormed the communities in the early hours, leaving behind a trail of destruction, deaths, and displaced families.

"The report of another violent attack in communities in Plateau State by mindless gunmen saddens me," the President said. "The latest attacks on defenceless citizens are unacceptable. I have directed security agencies to hunt down the attackers, and they will face severe punishment when apprehended."

President Tinubu assured Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the people of Plateau State of the Federal Government's support in quelling insecurity and rebuilding the affected communities.

“No community should have to endure such tragedy,” he stated. “These intermittent attacks should have no place in our country at a time when we are working so hard to restore peace and order in all parts of our country.”

The President also instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to coordinate with Plateau State authorities to provide emergency relief and support for the wounded and displaced.

“NEMA will work closely with the state to ensure that affected communities rebuild and recover,” he said.

Offering his condolences to the victims' families and all those affected, Tinubu called for unity, urging Nigerians to uphold shared humanity and reject violence and retaliation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families. We all must unite to foster peace and stability. I urge all citizens—regardless of ethnic, religious, or political affiliations—to embrace peace and reject retaliation,” he added.
